PERSONNEL

JD Allen – Having begun with MMS in 1989, JD took over as Principle owner and administrative head of MMS on January 1, 2012. He serves as President of MMS and his duties include overseeing the investment of client funds to ensure proper management of cash flow while working with eight of our clients, both as manager or assistant manager and has extensive experience with contracts. Having been most involved with research programs, JD is currently managing the Melon and Celery Boards, and assists with the communication and statistical duties required in our business. He also currently serves as assistant manager to the Pepper Commission, Potato Board, Cantaloupe Advisory Board, Citrus Nursery Board, and Winegrape Inspection Board.

Nathan Sano – Started with MMS in April of 2006, Nathan has advanced into the role of Vice President of MMS. He is currently the manager of the Fresh Carrot Advisory Board, Dry Bean Advisory Board, Pepper Commission, Potato Research Board as well as serving as the assistant manager of the Melon Research Board. He has extensive experience with domestic and international marketing while representing the Dry Bean Advisory Board on numerous marketing trips each year.

John Gilstrap – Joining the MMS management team in June 2010, John brings with him thirty years of single and multi-site management experience in a variety of fields. He currently serves as the manager of the Citrus Nursery Board, Cantaloupe Advisory Board, and Winegrape Inspection Board while assisting on the Fresh Carrot and Dry Bean Advisory Boards. John handles a variety of financial and communication duties required to serve our clients and has experience in Conflict of Interest and Ethics reports required of Board and Commission members.

Austin Hurtado – Started with MMS in May of 2007 and as Controller, manages the day-to-day financial aspects of the business, oversees all client financial matters, and has been assisting with the communication and statistical duties for several of our clients, has been the assistant manager of the Celery Research Board since 2012.

Support Staff – MMS maintains a skilled office staff which knows how to serve our clients and guide the required paperwork through the necessary channels. Kim Sakamoto has worked for MMS since 1987, and is the longest tenured employee, serving as administrative assistant, bookkeeper and accounts receivable supervisor. Deanna Grote has been with MMS since 1996, and although her duties extend far beyond the reception desk, hers is the friendly voice you hear when you call any of our clients. Deanna also serves as administrative assistant and assessment collections supervisor. As you can see, the entire support staff has been with us for many years, which adds to the stability and dependability of our services.

HISTORY

Established as Monfort Associates in 1969 operating with Gordon Monfort, since deceased, and Jerry Munson as partners, the business was incorporated in January of 1984, and the name was changed to Monfort Management Services, Inc. Upon Munson’s retirement on December 31, 2011, JD Allen has taken over sole ownership of MMS.

OPERATIONS

Centrally located in the San Joaquin Valley, MMS occupies 4,000 square feet of professional office space that is far removed from high rent districts of larger cities. MMS owns and maintains all its own office equipment including a telephone exchange system that provides each client its own, individual phone number, allowing each incoming call to be answered as though the client had its own, separate office.
